Acne scarring is permanent textural changes and indentations that occur on the skin as a result of severe acne. The term "scarring" is not used for the temporary red and brown marks left early after acne has occurred as these marks will almost always improve.
Acne marks are usually the result of inflamed blemishes caused by skin pores engorged with excess oil, dead skin cells and bacteria. The pore swells, causing a break in the follicle wall.
When an acne pimple or blemish has healed, it can leave dark marks. The hyperpigmented scars are not permanent, but they can be slow to fade. An acne mark may persist for as long as three to six months after the pimple has disappeared. These type of Acne Markings are very treatable. We can use certain active ingredients that will speed up the healing process and help fade these markings so much quicker.
We can also have skin treatments that complement our homecare to boost the results even more.
The treatments that are the most beneficial are Salicylic Peels, Skin Needling, and if the markings are very subtle, then Microdermabrasion can also help. These are all resurfacing type treatments hence the effectiveness of them in regards to fading acne markings.
