Skincare in Your 30s

Skincare starts to get very serious once we hit the 30 mark.
We start to realise that our skin does not look or feel the same as it did in the good old 20s.

There are a few reasons for this, but also quite a few solutions and treatments. Let's take a look at the best skincare in your 30s!

The first factor that affects your skin when you turn 30 is that your skin cell turnover slows down.

By the time you hit your 30s, new cells are visible every 28-35 days, whereas before, they turned over every 14 days or so. This leads to the skin looking dull and lifeless.

Good news is, there is one simple way to address that: Exfoliation! It is essential to exfoliate at least two times per week with an exfoliator that has been prescribed for your skin. Exfoliating the dead skin cells will not only reveal brighter skin, but also help ensure that the products you layer on top are properly absorbed!

Here is one of my favourites!

Ecoscrub | Gently polishes skin surface to remove lifeless cells.
Lactic Acid | An AHA that helps to refine and exfoliate.
Payaya Extract | A fruit enzyme, rich in antioxidants that moisturisers and smooths skin texture.

Another "side effect" of the 30s is the skin producing less oil. You might have guessed what is the solution here: Moisturising!

Moisturising is essential, but using the correct moisturiser is actually the key for effective results.

Now is the time to double-check if your skincare products are suitable for the changes in your skin. Have a Skin Consultation to make sure your home care is hitting the mark with your skin concerns.

I love this Medik8 product (if you have normal to dry skin)!

Sold out

An all-in-one moisturiser and sunscreen that serves as the perfect introduction to Vitamin C and Medik8’s anti-ageing philosophy. Daily Radiance Vitamin C combines powerful antioxidant protection with high-strength sun protection.

Another skin concern we sometimes observe in our 30s can be quite the opposite of lack of oil. That is adult breakouts. Hormones can be wild as this may be the time that many are having babies or going on and off their birth control method. To not mention the pressures of life can play havoc on the skin too.

We recommend at this point to NOT reach for harsh acne treatments we might have once used in our teenage years. Choose products that are targeted for adult breakouts. These will fight the blemishes whilst caring for the skin, keeping it healthy and hydrated.

Here is a targeted treatment for Adult Breakouts!

Sold out

A two-in-one brightening and clearing serum that clears and helps prevent breakouts while reducing visible skin ageing. A must for adults who regularly experience both breakouts and uneven skin tone.

Finally, we have the good old depletion of collagen & elastin. These fibres break down faster and are not produced as much by our bodies in our 30s. Plus, the naturally found skin-plumping hyaluronic acid starts to decrease as well.

Forehead wrinkles, crow's feet, bags under the eyes, and more prominent laugh lines (called nasolabial folds) all start to appear.

Serums containing ingredients such as Vitamin A, B, C, Acids and Peptides will now be an excellent addition to your regime. Now, remember that all these treatments need to be prescribed by a Skin Professional according to your skin concerns.

Serums have high percentages of Active Ingredients to be able to make changes in the skin - unlike generic bought beauty products that do not contain high enough percentages of actives to be able to treat skin concerns.

Here are my go-to Serums for the 30's!

Infuse your skin with intense hydration and long-lasting moisture with Hydr8 B5. A deeply hydrating, crystal-clear serum that sinks in quickly to flood the skin with moisture.
