Skincare Efficacy - The Ingredients that Get the Job Done

Skincare is an essential part of everyone's daily routine, and we all want to achieve healthy and glowing skin. But with so many products available in the market claiming to be effective, it can be challenging to choose the right ones.

As a Professional Skin Therapist with many years of experience, today I want to go through skincare efficacy, what you should look for when choosing skincare products, why I only recommend (and only use on my own skin) cosmeceutical skincare.

First and foremost, it's important to understand that skincare efficacy is not just about how a product feels on your skin. It's about the product's ability to deliver results, their penetration/absorption of ingredients into the skin, and the actual science and research behind the skincare you buy so that it does what it promises.

Improving skin texture, reducing fine lines and wrinkles, protecting our skin barrier and our skin microbiome, reducing acne, congestion, treating rosacea or sensitive skins, evening out skin tone - to treat either of these skin concerns, you need to find effective skincare products, and here are a few key ingredients that you should look for:

The skincare ingredients that get the job done:

1. Vitamin C - a powerful antioxidant for the skin

  • Brightens complexion
  • Evens out skin tone
  • Reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
  • Protects the skin from environmental stressors

Not all Vitamin C serums are the same! The reason I chose this product is that it is made using a blend of three different, unique stabilised Vitamin Cs (Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Ascorbyl Glucoside and Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate), creating a synergistic combination that remains stable for long periods, offering high antioxidant, without irritation. Penetrates instantly to provide long-lasting benefits of Vitamin C throughout the day.

2. Retinol - A form of vitamin A, retinol is the most effective anti-aging ingredients.

  • Helps to stimulate collagen production
  • Reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
  • Improves skin texture and tone

Sold out

This serum utilises a rare form of Vitamin A that acts up to 11x times faster than classic retinol at providing anti-ageing, radiance-boosting and skin-smoothing benefits to the skin. This serum is the definition of results-driven skincare!

3. Hyaluronic Acid

  • Helps to hydrate and plump the skin
  • Reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
  • Improves skin texture

Sold out

This is a concentrated treatment with hyaluronic acid that provides the skin with a moisturising, anti-ageing, repulping and filling action.

  4. Niacinamide (Vitamin B3)

  • Helps to improve skin texture
  • Reduces the appearance of pores
  • Evens out skin tone

#ProTips to get results with your skincare

#ProTip 1:
When looking for skincare products that contain these ingredients, it's important to look for products that list the ingredient near the top of the ingredient list, as this indicates that the ingredient is present in a higher concentration.

#ProTip 2: It's also important to remember that skincare efficacy is not just about the ingredients. The formulation of the product is also essential. Look for products that have been clinically tested and proven to deliver results. Look for products that have been tested on a range of skin types to ensure that they are suitable for all skin types.

#ProTip 3: In addition to choosing effective skincare products, it's also crucial to use them correctly. Follow the instructions on the packaging carefully or be guided by a Professional Skin Therapist.

#ProTip 4: Remember consistency is the key to making a change within your skin and seeing results. It's also important to remember that skincare is not a one-size-fits-all solution. Everyone's skin is unique, and what works for one person may not work for another. It's essential to listen to your skin and adjust your skincare routine accordingly.
