LED stands for ‘light emitting diodes’. This is a therapeutic light wave sent out by a medical grade LED light therapy machine. Different types of light produce certain wavelengths of visible light. Different wavelengths of light depending on the nanometer that the LED machine is using to penetrate layers of the skin. This stimulates and recharges cells of the skin.
An analogy to explain LED therapy is that it acts like a car battery charger. It recharges our skin cells by using different wavelengths to reenergise and stimulate the skin cells on a cellular level. As our cells start to age they get ‘lazy’. LED awakens these ‘lazy’ cells. Re-charges the signal of communication between each layer of skin cells to: repair, strengthen and rejuvenate. LED in precise wavelengths are used to treat acne, superficial skin lesions, pain relief, scarring and promote skin rejuvenation without physical trauma or thermal damage.
There are three popular LED lights that are used to treat different skin concerns and conditions:
- BLUE LIGHT - epidermal treatment is used to treat acne because of the powerful effect of being anti-bacterial. This inhibits the P acne bacteria providing oxygen where P acne cannot survive. Studies have shown 99.9% elimination of bacteria can be treated by blue light.
- RED and YELLOW LIGHT - treat the dermal layers. By treating the dermal layers, the wavelength stimulates the fibroblast cells which are responsible for the production of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid. They reenergise at the right amount of energy to produce these three proteins. These two LED lights are used for skin rejuvenation, scarring, healing, inflammation and relief of muscle and joint pain.
One of the benefits of LED is that it's safe to use on any skin concerns or conditions such as psoriasis, eczema and rosacea. These inflamed and irritated skins will highly benefit from LED therapy.
An added bonus for RED LED therapy is that it can energise a healing compound in our cells which increases the blood flow that strengthens the immune system.
